In 2015 we set up an official Guinness World Record at TDT.
One year earlier, we also tried to break the record for the largest stick bomb – but it failed (only 9,000 sticks “exploded”). So we decided to to try it again and to set up over 30,000 popsicle sticks which was more than the double of the current record.
- Topic: World record attempt „Largest Stick Bomb“
- Set dominoes: 32,000
- Toppled dominoes: 32,000 (100%)
- Set sticks : 30,849
- Toppled sticks: 30,849 (100%)
- Builders: 21
- Place: BSZ-sports hall Tulln (Austria)
- Date: Monday, 30th March 2015
- Audience: about 200 people
We set up exactly 30,849 sticks (like you know them from the doctor) which were woven under tension. We also set up 32,000 dominoes for the start and the main sponsor logos.
The world record was built in only two days and a builder of the team (Matthias Heinzelmann) toppled the first of 32,000 dominoes at the 30th of March 2015 in the BSZ-sports hall in Tulln. It was the first time in the history of TDT that every single domino toppled (100%). The world record started by dominoes which triggered three mouse traps.
These mouse traps started the Stick Bomb which “exploded” and hurtled in a spectarcular kind of way. We built synchronisations and another technique than 2014 (“Diamond-Weave”) so that every single Stick exploded within 30 seconds and we could reach a new Guinness World record.
The video of the world record including 30,849 “exploding” sticks is available under the following link:
